The tuner is not hearing my guitar

Check that Interval has microphone access: Settings on your phone, scroll to Interval, and turn Microphone on. If another app is using the microphone — a call, a voice recorder — close it first.

The tuner says the wrong note

Play one string at a time and let it ring. If you strum, the tuner hears several notes at once and has to guess. If a string reads a whole octave out, check you have the right tuning selected at the bottom of the tuner screen.

Chord recognition is guessing wrong

Let each chord ring for about half a second before changing. It needs to hear the chord settle. Quiet rooms help; so does playing a little closer to the phone.

How do I back up my practice history?

Settings, then Backup, then "Back up my journal". That writes a file you can save to Files, iCloud Drive, or email to yourself. To bring it back — on a new phone, for instance — use "Restore from a backup".

Restoring never deletes or overwrites anything already on the phone. Recordings are not included in the backup file.

Will I lose everything if I delete the app?

Yes. Everything lives on your device and nowhere else, which is the point — but it does mean a backup is the only copy that survives a lost or replaced phone. Making one occasionally is worth the ten seconds.

How do I turn the daily reminder off?

Settings, then Daily reminder, then Off.

Can I silence notifications while I practice?

iPhone does not let any app turn on Do Not Disturb for you. Settings, then "Silence notifications", walks through setting it up yourself once in Shortcuts, after which it happens every time you open Interval.

The metronome is too loud or too sharp

The metronome has its own volume inside the session, separate from your phone's. There are four click sounds — Click, Beep, Tick and Hi-hat — and the hi-hat sits highest and stays furthest out of a guitar's way.
